Update on my daughter’s cancer diagnosis

| Prayer Request: | I had a mammogram w contrast yesterday to see how the cancer is responding/did respond to the first four treatments. (The Doxorubicin/Adriamycin.) Unfortunately, the bad news is. the results weren’t exactly what we were hoping to see. The tumors haven’t shrunk, even a little. However, my oncologist did say there is a possibility that the cancer cells within the tumor are dying, and just not shrinking. There’s no way to know until surgery. The GOOD news is that the lymph nodes did show minor evidence of response. They have shrunk a little bit. I had my first round today of tamoxifen which is an estrogen receptor modulator. I’ll be on that, weekly, for the next 12 weeks. Those are 6 hour treatments, and supposed to have less side effects than the chemo drug I just finished. ?? I meet w the surgeon tomorrow to start setting up a surgical plan. And I’ll have another scan sometime toward the end of September/beginning of October. I’m pretty wiped out today, and honestly pretty pissed that the response to the chemo wasn’t as good as we thought it’d be. But overall, I’m glad that we did see some signs of improvement and the tumors haven’t grown. So that’s a win. Love y’all and I’ll keep you updated as time goes on and we learn more. ?? |
