I’m New

What to Bring

For preschoolers ages two and under please include the following in their bag:

  1. At least two disposable diapers.  No cloth diapers, please.
  2. Pacifier, or other item, should your child need it for security.
  3. A change of clothes in case of accidents.
  4. A bottle of milk, formula, juice or water.
  5. A sippy cup – if a bottle is no longer used.

We try our best to keep your child’s belongings together.  It would help if you would label your child’s bag and it’s contents with your child’s first and last name.

What to Expect upon arrival

The Preschool area is open 15 minutes before each worship hour on Sunday mornings. Currently our worship hours are 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m.  Our preschoolers (birth – kindergarten) are divided into small groups so they can better learn concepts like; God Made Me, God Loves Me, and God Wants to be My Friend Forever. When entering the preschool building our greeters will welcome you, ask you to fill out an information sheet and show you and your child to his/her classroom.

Your Child’s Health

For the protection of all the children in our ministry we cannot accept a child that has a fever, rash, persistent cough, diarrhea or any other signs of illness.  We request that you not place your child in the program while they are at risk of exposing other children.  Thank you in advance for helping us keep our preschool ministry a healthy place for all.

Security

Our goal is to keep your child as secure as possible.  We do this by having a secure check-in system.  When you arrive, you will be greeted by a friendly, helpful person who will assist you with checking in your child.  After entering your child’s name and DOB, a name-tag will be printed for your child along with a security tag for you.  Your security tag will match the number on your child’s name-tag.  When returning to pick up your child, the teacher will ask you for the security number before releasing your child.  If you are checking in more than one child, the same security number will be issued for all children.  If you are needed during the service the security number will be displayed on the screens in the worship center.

Snacks

Snacks are provided for all children beginning in the toddler class.  Our snacks consist of water or juice and crackers or small finger foods.  If your child has an allergy, please inform the teacher when you check in your child.

Curriculum

We believe even our littlest ones can learn.  Regular learning experiences are planned and lessons are reinforced with songs, play and supervised activities designed with the ability of the children in mind.

Saying Good-bye

After checking in your child, simply say a quick good-bye and leave for the worship service.  As you know, it is normal for little ones to cry when leaving a parent.  This usually does not last long, and separation becomes easier over time.  The teachers will immediately try to create interest in a toy or activity and give assurance that you will return after the worship service is completed.  If your child cries for an extended period of time of 10 minutes, we will call for you.  You are more than welcome to check on your little one at any time during the worship service.  However, we ask that you do so discreetly, trying not to let your child see you.

Pick-up procedures

Your child’s teacher will request to see your security number when you pick up your child.   Please make sure that all of your child’s personal items have been returned to you before you leave.  Lost and found items will be retained for a short time.
